Equine Insurance is a division of Parker General Insurance, an independent agency founded in Fresno, California in 1964. Parker General purchased Equine Insurance in 1993 and has grown it since by hiring knowledgeable, resourceful people and putting the customer’s needs first. We work with equine and farm clients throughout the Western United States.

What to Have Ready When You Get in Touch

• Insuring a horse: age, breed, declared use and value. If you want a value above the purchase price, have your current show and training records to hand as substantiation.
• Insuring a business: how many horses are boarded, in training, or used as school horses, how many students you teach, and the receipts generated for each exposure.
• Insuring a property: a list of dwellings, barns and other structures with construction type, age, square footage and roof detail, plus a list of tractors, tack, tools and equipment.
• Existing policyholders: your policy number and, for a change request, the change in writing — all policy changes must be made in writing.

Reporting a Claim

If you need to report a claim, contact us immediately, or within 24 hours at the very latest. In a non-emergency it is worth making contact even before a potential claim arises, so we can advise you of any time limitations or exclusions that may apply. Your policy is issued with 24-hour claim cards for after-hours emergencies — keep one with you and leave one at the barn or with your trainer. The carrier must be notified before surgery is performed, and before euthanasia is carried out where it has been recommended.
