Trainers Liability / Stable Liability Questionnaire
Trainers liability and stable liability questionnaire for boarding and training operations seeking equine commercial liability and care custody coverage.

About This Questionnaire
This questionnaire is for training and boarding operations that handle horses belonging to other people. The coverages it leads to are Equine Commercial Liability, which protects you where a third party suffers injury or property damage arising from your operations, and Care, Custody & Control, which responds where a non-owned horse in your keeping becomes sick, is injured or dies through negligence by you or an employee. Many operations also carry an excess liability policy above both.
Have the following to hand before you begin: the number of horses in each type of exposure — how many are boarded, how many are in training, how many are school horses, how many students you teach — together with the receipts generated for each exposure. If anyone works at your facility, including a boarder trading labour for part of their stall rent, you will also need to consider Workers’ Compensation: the trade has a value, counts as remuneration and should be declared on your payroll reports.
One principle governs every equine liability policy: if it is not listed on the policy, it is not covered. Declare riding instruction, clinics, public event days and any activity outside routine boarding. If your property and structures also need cover, see the Farm and Ranch Commercial Package.
